Ever since MGMT’s third album dropped everyone’s been all disappointed. Is this album just to alt for the mainstreamers? It is everything I had expected. In a way I feel like I was write, when I wrote a post awhile back how I was expecting MGMT to ‘deviate’ from their pop-sounds heard on Oracular Spectacular and return to their really psychedelic / hipster / alt sound from their early years / second half of Oracular. This is what I was expecting / hoping for. I really feel that as a result of that, I embraced this record with a clean palett and that I really ‘get’ the album, because I had jams like “4th Dimensional Transition” and “The Handshake” in mind as opposed to “Kids” and “Electric Feel.” I feel that bros are trying to access this album the wrong way. What is really wrong with this album besides its missing “something” ? Is this album too alt for people? Will pitch4k like this over Oracular Spectacular (which they only gave a 6.something )?

A true sign that this is not a pop album, is the lack of instant accessibility. Congratulations requires multiple listens. Maybe ppl figured that Oracular Spectacular was so accessible right off the bat, Congrats would b the same?
